Finding Balance
In a world filled with phones and screens, it becomes increasingly important to find balance, where our thinking minds can switch off for a while. For me, the quiet activity of making cards provides that space. The creative process offers a powerful and transformative pathway to self-expression, where we can share ideas, find joy, and build resilience to manage the ups and downs of modern life. Some people find this in making music, tending a garden or climbing mountains; others find it meditating or being in nature. Immersing yourself in any activity that sparks joy, helps restore balance.
Do what you love
They say that if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. After studying Digital Media in 2007, I have juggled a full time job, with part-time website design, raising a family, and making cards. The idea of combining the elements of making, curating and inspiring others through digital storytelling has been evolving slowly, over quite a few years; would it be possible to build something from all the things I loved doing?
A Little Book of Ideas
The Card Couture eBook is my response to this question. Creativity shouldn't be bound by right or wrong outcomes. Creativity sets us free to rediscover the beautiful journey, without distance, from the head to the heart. If you consider that we are the architects of our own experience, and that our thoughts and emotions create the blueprint, then whatever we do to stimulate new possibilities for a better blueprint, must be worthwhile.
